Recenly got a 9/12 old galaxy. Very happy with it except for annoying rattle/creak in area of nearside rear door. Nothing obviously loose & door seems a reasonable fit. Sounds as if it's coming from door panel. Any ideas?

I can't hear that creak on my Galaxy above the squeeks from the dashboard!

Also, if you drive a bit faster the rattle/creak will become inaudible over the wind noise from the same door!

(that's if you can hear it above the waves breaking under the front passenger seat...)

crikey I'm in a sarcastic mood this morning....

I had a similar problem on a Mark 1. When I removed the door panel, part or the window winding assembly had lost a screw, which had fallen into the door. Just replaced it and all was fine.

It might be a coffee mug loose inside the door, from the workforce at the factory.

Been to the dealer, the door ratttles are in fact the seals rubbing and producing a creaking sound. Reduced by silicon spray. Apparently the door seals on 2000 onwards are a different design, causing the problem. Dealer also reckons there is more flex in the bodies of recent cars due to ? changes to the sills??

B) "9/12 old "....Wassat? B)

The newer models seem more RIGID than the pre-facelft model, I'm still trying to decide if your 9/12 means it's nine and a half! ;)

you could note this in your vehicle details so members are better informed to help - or in my case ,sometimes be sarcastic B)

:P I'd be a very happy chappie if I had a nine and a half-er B)

I think 9/12 means that it's 9 months old (9 out of 12 months in a year).

9/12 = 9 months. Car is a 2003 130 bhp ghia. Dealer definately said newer model had more flex in the body. My old 110 bhp galaxy didn't rattle and creak though engine itself was much noisier and slower.

Maybe that's why most dealers test the flex in the sills at every opportunity.

My only rattle is the dashboard - so far at least.
